ASDAN Lifeskills Challenges
Eastern Outreach is an approved centre to deliver ASDAN Lifeskills Challenges. These challenges provide a flexible way to recognise and reward small steps of achievement, with a focus on personalised learning and progression. They are for learners that require a personalised approach to learning, including those with an education, health and care plan (EHCP) or accessing SEN support.
The challenges recognise learners’ progress in curriculum areas that are important for success in adult life – they are usually about being able to do things, rather than about a significant body of knowledge.
How does it work?
Challenges are offered from Entry 1 through to Level 2 Your tutor will work with the young person to assess which level challenge is appropriate for them.
Your tutor will work with the young person to select the most suitable and beneficial subject areas. These may include Maths, English, Art, IT, Personal Development, Life Skills and others.
Learners complete their selected challenges and compile evidence of their accomplishments in a portfolio, either in hard copy or electronic format.
The qualified team at Eastern Outreach will assess the learning activities logged in the portfolio and reward learners’ achievements by claiming ASDAN certification for successfully completed challenges.
NB: There is an additional fee for registration on the Lifeskills Challenge program.
Who are ASDAN?
ASDAN is an education charity and awarding organisation providing courses, accredited curriculum programmes and regulated qualifications to engage, elevate and empower young people aged 11 to 25 years in greatest need.
ASDAN define young people in greatest need as those needing support for their emotional and social needs, those with a special educational need or disability, those not engaged or succeeding in their education, who miss an English and/or Maths pass at 16 or subsequently at risk of not being in education or training.
Their goal is to engage young people through relevant and motivating courses to achieve meaningful learning outcomes, which elevate them to go on to further education, training and work, and empower them to take control of their lives. Find out more at www.lifeskillschallenge.org.uk
